Changes in SSL Certificate Validity
Due to browser and Apple policies, SSL certificates are now limited to a maximum of 398 days. Certificates issued after September 1, 2020 must be renewed before expiry to maintain full browser trust.
Certificates Issued Before September 1, 2020
- These certificates remain valid for their full term.
- No action is required from the customer.
Certificates Issued On or After September 1, 2020
- Each certificate is valid for up to 398 days.
- For multi-year purchases (e.g., 2-year SSL), the certificate must be re-issued before the 398-day expiry to cover the full term of the order.
- Each re-issue requires re-installation of the certificate.
Early Re-issue
- Customers may re-issue certificates at any time.
- The new certificate will be valid up to 398 days or the order expiration date, whichever comes first.
Domain Control Validation (DCV)
- DCV is performed for every certificate re-issue to verify domain ownership.
Expiration Reminders
- Customers will receive email notifications before the 398-day validity expires.
- The order management page also displays a reminder about certificate expiry.
Renewal
- Renewal requests for multi-year certificates can be made 30 days before order expiration to ensure uninterrupted SSL coverage.
